Eau Noire – Oh, yes!

Maison Martin Margiela (Untitled) – But not unloved (September 3, 2010 New Fragrance Listing)

I never buy a bottle blind…anymore. I’ve been burned a few times – read and believed enticing product descriptions or reviews, suffered buyer's remorse, and frankly wasted my hard earned do-re-mi on a scrubber.

Bois Farine - Mood-changing magic

This is the last gourmand blog for a while, I swear. I wasn’t going to do it, because yesterday the thermometer hit 32C (90F) here in Toronto, with 95% humidity, and today is more of the same. Do I want to talk about perfume, food, smells?  I didn’t think so when I woke up this morning – my fantasy is to open the fridge and stand in front of it all day. But then I spritzed myself with Bois Farine, and I got my inspiration.

I Love Paris When it Sizzles....

I have been in Paris for the last week. In August most Parisians quit the city for the mountains or the sea. Small shops are closed for holidays and the city is a little quieter. Some people feel it lacks the excitement of other times of the year, but I love being in Paris any time even in August.

Lolita Lempicka - Perfume or catnip? (August 25, 2010 New Fragrance Listing)

It seems I’m on a food jag lately with the blogs – pepper, coffee, and now licorice. I didn’t plan it, it’s just where my nose has led me over the past week or so. Maybe I lack something in my diet, or maybe I’m working up to a monumental junk food binge, but I’ve been digging in my perfume drawers for weird and wonderful foody smells – savoury, sweet, herbal – doesn’t matter. I’ve found one with an absolutely amazing bottle, and a scent to match it......

New Haarlem - Coffee, anyone?

Feet hit the floor, down the stairs, into the kitchen, dog out, dog in, coffee – aaahhhh. The day has begun.

Piper Nigrum - Over-looked and under-rated

I had to make some decant samples last week, one of which was Piper Nigrum by Lorenzo Villoresi. This is one of the first niche scents I owned, a gift from a friend after a trip to Florence. I’d told her she should visit the LV shop in Via de' Bardi in Florence,  a 15th century palazzo owned by his family, and have a perfume created for her, which she did.

Years ago when my mother-in-law visited us from England she got a real kick out of a sign that hangs over our street: No Ball Hockey Playing on Street.

Sniffing Around Sample Pack

In the web perfume universe, there are a lot of blogs, and some sites which sell samples, but is unique because we do both.
