Aimez-Moi

I zeroed in on Aimez-Moi by Caron during my last run-through Perfumes the A-Z Guide. Why? Because it has a violet note, is given a 4-star rating, and it has a “humour and cheer largely missing from Caron’s current line-up of feminines”. Worth investigating, I think, and the google search tells me that it’s from 1996 and created by Dominique Ropion – see his astounding creative list here. That’s enough for me to track down a sample, which I use up in a couple of days.

Parfum Sacré

$4.00

When it comes to perfume, I don’t like someone dictating to me what I should wear and when I should wear it, still there are some scents that are best suited to a season like the way Caron’s Parfum Sacré seems made for cooler weather.

Yatagan

$4.00

Launched in 1976 by Caron, Yatagan is named for the curved sabre used by the Ottomans to carve out their empire from the mid-16th to late 19th centuries. Like its namesake, the perfume is strong, beautiful and exotic.

Le 3e Homme de Caron (The Third Man)

$5.00

I first sniffed The Third Man in the Caron store on Rue de la Montagne in Paris, but I’d tested so many scents that day that it got lost in the perfume cloud, and I was on a niche bender anyway - classics could wait.

Nuit de Noël

Posted in
$5.00

Created by Ernest Daltroff in 1922 for Caron, Nuit de Noël is an Oriental with woody undertones and the distinctive note - familiar to Europeans but not so much to North Americans - of marrons glacés, or  - chestnuts.

With white floral top notes, the heart notes of green violet, earthy tuberose and iris settle on the warm woody herbal base, and are meant to evoke the smell of the traditional Christmas Night..... "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose........"
