Lubin Paris

Korrigan

$5.00

Along with Giacobetti’s Idole de Lubin, a divinely luscious Oriental with notes of rum, spices, woods, leather, Korrigan is part of the Talismania Collection from Lubin. Considered avant-garde when it launched in 2012, it’s since become a minor cult classic because it is so uniquely original and perfectly formulated, with its otherworldly interplay of two accords: creamy boozy woody caramel and bitter-green tarry smoky leather.

Itasca

$4.00

One of four fragrances in Lubin’s Métalliques collection, Itasca is a variation on Lubin’s Vétiver fragrance. Itasca was inspired by childhood stories of Davy Crockett and the Native Americans with whom he shared the same love and respect for unspoiled natural America.

L de Lubin

$4.00

Launched in 1974 by the house of Lubin, creators of exclusive luxury scents since 1798, L de Lubin is described in their promotional materials as “The heady scent for the 70’s, it was favoured by the pop idols on the disco dance floors.”

Reformulated in 2008 so as to conform to new health restrictions, by Lucien Ferrero, who created the original L de Lubin in 1974, the new L is virtually indistinguishable from the vintage.

Idole de Lubin

$5.00
flacon

The Bon Marche department  store in Paris has a Niche Perfumes section, where I went to sniff several fragrances that I'd been dying to try. Idole was not on my list.  As I wandered through the area, the Lubin line came into view. The Idole bottle propelled me to pick it up - it has a carved black African mask as a capper, and the bottle is a beautiful curved shape. Then the SA sidled up and told me that Idole was created by Olivia Giacobetti, and I knew I had to try a spritz.
