Launched in 2007, by L’Artisan Parfumeur as part of a line for body and soul, L'Eau de Jatamansi is 100% Natural, Certified Organic and fabulous!
L'Eau de Jatamansi is built around jatamansi a/k/a nard or spikenard – a rare flowering plant that grows in the Himalayas of China and in northern parts if India and Nepal. Believed to have a balancing effect on the emotions nard has been used in incense and in herbal medicine for centuries. L'Eau de Jatamansi also contains essential oils from Gaiac wood and sandalwood, both staples of herbal medicine that help ease anxiety and contribute to a feeling of well-being. But there’s more to this beautiful frag than a few essential oils.
It opens with crisp grapefruit and bergamot. Soon sage appears and adds a green herbal note. Cardamom adds an anise-tinged spicy warmth making the opening more herbal than citrus. Aromatic jatamansi appears. At the heart aromatic jatamansi comes forward - herbaceous, earthy and musty. Floral notes of Turkish rose and ylang-ylang elevate the jatamansi and complement it perfectly. Gaiac wood eases the transition from the heart to a woody base of sandalwood, which adds a note of warm incense, and papyrus which has hints of cedar, vetiver and patchouli.
L'Eau de Jatamansi sounds like it be a heavy, dense fragrance, but in the hands of nose Karine Vinchon it is a light, chic sunny scent with a woody aromatic backbone that feels good to wear and doesn’t overstay its welcome like some uninvited houseguest that has lost their joie de vivre. Use it in the day and by night you can wear something else – I like that.
