New in niche

I don’t know about you, but I could most definitely use some sunshine. This has been a winter of snow and rain and sleet and freezing rain and more snow and rain and…well, you get the idea. So, sunshine sounds good. And it sounds even better when it comes from Amouage: Niche Essence, a niche perfume retailer in Toronto, is hosting a launch for Amouage’s new floral fragrance Sunshine on Saturday, March 14, noon to 5 pm at 2651 Yonge Street. If you’re in the city, you should stop by. Notes for the fragrance include almond, davana, black currant, osmanthus, jasmine, vanilla, magnolia, cade, patchouli, papyrus and white tobacco.

Interested in other Amouage fragrances? Gwen and Kay have Amouage Gold for women, Fate Man, Beloved Woman and Jubilation XXV on offer.

Vintage appeal

It was my birthday yesterday (my excuse for being a day late with my post), and because I’m self-centred, I thought, I wonder what perfumes were released the year I was born. Plug it into the Google machine and voila: a site that lets me sort frags by year of release. Now I’m setting out to hunt down some from my birth year—fun! First on my list: Y by Yves St. Laurent.

Deals, deals, deals

Here’s some fun: an Andy Tauer perfume at a great price. Tauer has launched a new line called Tauerville, aimed at creating top-notch, well-priced fragrances. Check out the first one on offer at LuckyScent: Rose Flash, $63 for 30 ml.

Interested in other Tauer creations? Gwen and Kay have Zeta, Vetiver DanceOrange Star, Eau d’Epices, Le Maroc pour elle, Incense Extreme and L’air du Desert Morocain  on offer.

Nosing around

As you can tell from the long list of Tauer scents on offer, Andy Tauer is a fave here at Perfumeniche. Check out this interview with him on Olfactif.com.

Makes me want to try it

I’ve made it through most of the winter flu-free (knock wood), but I know there are some bad bugs going around. If you’re under the weather, check out this post from Bois de Jasmin about scents to wear when you’re not feeling your best. Among my faves? L’Eau d’Hiver--which Gwen and Kay have on offer—and Tam Dao.

Just because

Turns out some of life’s smellier things might be good for you…even, well, gas.
