Season's Greetings....

We're on vacation until after New Year's, returning Monday January 5th.

Here is our perfumeniche version of T'was the Night Before Christmas - we had great fun writing it a few years ago, and still think it's pretty funny...hopefully it will make you smile, too!

T’was the night before Christmas and all through the Niche
The perfumes were in order, within easy reach.
With Kay in M/Mink, and Gwen in Boxeuse
They’d just finished decanting, and were taking a snooze

When from under the scent organ there arose such a clatter
It made Kay's eyes fly open, and Gwen's wine glass shatter
Away to the organ they flew like a flash
To grab all their bottles, and save their scent stash

When, what to their wondering eyes should appear
But a miniature flacon pulled by eight tiny nosedeer
Filled with excitement (but kneeling in pain)
The girls peered at the driver – it was Pierre-François Pascal Guerlain!

Dressed in red and white fur all except for his hands
He smelled faintly of vanilla, coumarin and civet glands
From a big sack of boxes slung over his back
He pulled bottles of perfume, which ever so slowly, he started to stack

With great care, on the scent organ, for Gwen and for Kay
While they watched, open–mouthed, from a few steps away
He said not a word, as he placed down each scent
Then, finished his task, to the flacon he went

“On Jean-Claude, on Marcel, Annick and Olivia
On Francis, on Bertrand, on Serge and Patricia ”
And up through the chimney they flew like a whiff
The girls could say nothing, they were gone in a jiff

Then Kay looked at Gwen, and Gwen said to Kay,

Wow! He brought all our new perfumes – let’s sniff right away!

So they fell to their work, with the spritzing and dabbing

And spraying and sniffing, and laughing and gabbing

“These are fabulous perfumes – we’ve done it again!

I can’t wait to write”, Kay exclaimed to her friend

“I agree – I love them!” said Gwen. “Perfect choices”

Then both fell quiet – they’d heard distant voices

So they looked out the window at the bright winter night

To see Pierre-François Pascal Guerlain, and the flacon, in flight

And they heard him exclaim as he flew out of sight

“Merry Spritzmas to all, and to all a Good Night”!

May your Christmas dreams come true! Have a very Happy Holiday!

Meet you back here at perfumeniche on January 5th, 2015.........

Imitation is said to be the sincerest form of flattery, and we offer our sincere apologies to the author, Clement Moore, may he rest in peace, as well as to everyone who treasures his wonderful and imeless Christmas poem.
