Encens Flamboyant

Created by Camille Goutal and Isabelle Doyen, Encens Flamboyant is part of a set of three perfumes, called Les Orientalistes - the other two are Amber Fetiche and Myhrre Ardente. I bought the set in Paris, because I love Orientals, and because three is always better than one, but which one do I wear the most?....Encens Flamboyant.

If you are drawn to the smell of incense , this perfume is THE ONE. It is basically an homage to frankincense, a tree found in desert regions, whose bark and sap has been used for centuries as incense.

It opens with a blast of piney, peppery sap from the tree, and then softens to the smell of the resin, sweetened with nutmeg and cardamom. The heart of the perfume is the smoky smell of "vielle eglise" frankincense, the scent so identified with old cathedrals or temples, burnt and warmed by woody balsam fir and aromatic resins.

Encens Flamboyant is unique - piney and cool, smoky and warm, tender and pure and comforting - and one of the very best incense scents you can find.

Notes: frankincense essence and resinoid, “vieille église” frankincense, black and pink pepper, cardamom, nutmeg, fir balsam, and mastic.
