Fantastic Man - Sunday Cologne

Please note: Byredo has re-named Fantastic Man as Sunday Cologne - same frag, different name.

Fantastic Man is the gorgeous result of a collaboration of Ben Gorham of Byredo Parfums out of Sweden and the editors of Fantastic Man, a men’s style magazine published in Amsterdam. The magazine is witty, playful and one of the best men’s magazines out there, so it’s no surprise that their eponymous fragrance would be a play on the traditional men’s cologne.

Fantastic Man opens with citrusy bergamot, which is the traditional start of men’s cologne, but here is it tempered with the warmth and soft spiciness of star anise and cardamom. At the heart, dirty geranium appears backed by woody incense for depth and more warmth. That other men’s cologne favourite, lavender, also shows up and offers a lovely floral note. At the base, vetiver, moss and patchouli come forward and bring it to a beautiful warm, green, soft dry-down that stays close to the skin.

As promised, Fantastic Man - Sunday Cologne has the ingredients of a traditional men’s cologne but it doesn’t smell like one. Familiar, foreign and fantastic, it smells great on men and women. G.
