Launched by Parfums de Nicolaï in 1989, this EDP is a gorgeous expression of springtime.
The opening of bergamot and mandarin soon fades as wild flowers show up. Creamy lily-of-the-valley, white jasmine and dry, orris root combine beautifully, with the orris root adding a woody note that adds depth and interest. Oak moss is also at the heart and adds an earthy, bitter and salty/sweaty dimension. Musk at the base adds an animalic note, and softens the whole composition so that it’s never gets too sharp or jagged. Never harsh, but not shy either this is very much a sophisticated French perfume.
Odalisque is the first tremble of spring - wild flowers coming to life in the thawing wet woods – heady and full of promise.
